Abstract We obtain accurate eigenvalues of the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with a Hamiltonian form H g = + g? ( x ), where ? ) is Dirac delta function. show that well known Rayleigh–Ritz variational method suitable approach provided basis set takes into account effect on wavefunction. Present analysis may be for an introductory course quantum mechanics to illustrate application problem boundary conditions play relevant role and have introduced carefully trial Besides, examples are motivating students resort any computer-algebra software in order calculate required integrals solve secular equations.
